When County Court bailiffs had failed in executing a Warrant of possession for a property in July, our client contacted Wilson & Roe with the instruction to obtain a Writ of possession and carry out the eviction on their behalf.
Previous attempts at eviction had failed when the occupants had positioned vehicles to barricade access points to the property. A tough security door had left locksmiths unable to gain entry, and to make things even more difficult, the eviction attempts were being filmed by unknown individuals.
After transferring the Order of possession to a Writ of possession, we were able to serve an eviction notice. However, upon doing so, our Enforcement Agent discovered that a notice had been affixed to the front door of the property declaring that the occupants would resist any attempt at eviction.
Soon after, Wilson & Roe received a letter from the defendant. This letter stated that the occupants of the property considered themselves to be part of the ‘Freeman on the Land’ movement, a group that commonly believes they are not bound by law.
In order to ensure a safe environment for everyone involved, we engaged with the Metropolitan Police who provided a tactical response team to deal with any breach of the peace. After finalising plans, our specialist Method of Entry team gained access to the property. Our highly trained Enforcement Team, led by Terry Cooper, acted swiftly to remove the defendant and their supporting protestors from the address, obtaining vacant possession and handing the property to our security team within just two hours.
Our Enforcement Team has a wealth of experience and expertise which, along with engagement and support from the Metropolitan Police, ensured a safe and successful enforcement was completed on behalf of our valued client.
