At Andrew Wilson & Co. we have an incredible group of employees working together to provide the best possible service for our clients. We want you to get to know the people behind our business, starting with one of our Relationship Managers and experienced triathlete, Will Hayman-Brown.
With the same motivation he uses to make sure every enforcement case achieves our high standards and meets client expectations, Will is set on completing a full Ironman Triathlon and raising money for Bolton Hospice. We chatted with Will to find out more about what the intense race involves and why he’s doing it.
The Ironman Triathlon is a huge athletic achievement, have you done it before?
I have been doing triathlons for the last six years now, as well as some half Ironman Triathlons for a few years. This will be the first time I’m doing a full Ironman Triathlon, alongside the professionals, and it will be in Bolton – my hometown. This will be the biggest challenge I have ever done in my life.
What does the Ironman Triathlon entail?
It starts off with a 2.4 mile open water swim, followed by a 112 mile bike and then after all of that… a full 26.2 mile marathon! Just getting on the start line will make me happy knowing how far I’ve come to achieve that. It’s hopefully going ahead on 4th July having been delayed last year due to the pandemic.
How is the training going and how do you manage it with work?
Training is going well, and I have managed to create a routine in order to balance work and home life around it. I’m motivated to do it more than anything – it’s just become a way of life. I’ll train in the evening after work and at weekends and I don’t have any children, so that probably makes a huge difference!
Why are you doing it?
I have always been into sport, but I started doing triathlons after observing my friend doing them back in 2015, and since then it’s become a passion – it’s addictive and I absolutely love it.
The reason why I want to raise money for Bolton Hospice is because in 2019 my stepdad died from cancer. It was a long battle and the team at Bolton Hospice were absolutely amazing, so I think it’d be nice to give something back. I’ve still got the message on my phone telling him that I wanted to do Ironman and that I was going to raise money for the hospice.
