Six months into his appointment, Jon Tatam has quickly proved to be a valuable member of our team at Andrew Wilson & Co.
Jon joined us from London-based competitor, Burlington Group in July 2019 to take up the senior role of Property Services Manager within our expanding Property and Asset Recovery Services division.
Based in our London office at 38 Chancery Lane, Jon supports our Property Services Director, Alex Hill to lead operations in the capital as well as manage our trespasser and tenant evictions, mortgage repossessions, CRAR & Commercial Lease Forfeiture cases across England and Wales.
Jon has brought a wealth of experience to the role having worked in the High Court Enforcement industry since 2013. Prior to this, Jon also occupied management roles within the electrical wholesale and finance industries.
During his career, Jon has been involved in a number of high-profile and very successful High Court Enforcement operations, including:
Partridge v Gupta [2017] EWHC 2110 (QB): Sufficient Notice of Proceedings Under CPR 83.13
Jon was involved in this case from inception through to its conclusion. It focused heavily on CPR 83.13(8)(a) and whether the notice given to the occupant was sufficient to enable the occupant to apply to the Court for any relief to which the occupant may be entitled. The matter ultimately went all the way to the Court of Appeal where the defendant’s application was finally dismissed leading to a very pertinent case law forming as a result. This case has been the biggest test of CPR 83.13 to date and thankfully due process and attention to detail won through.
European Financer: Execution of large Writ of Control
Jon was part of the team that successfully recovered a debt in excess of £57,000,000.00 under a Writ of Control against a German financier. This involved the successful grounding of not just one, but two private jets at one of the UK’s largest airports and also taking control of a very impressive wine collection in order to recover the monies owed to the client. Ultimately the pressure of seizure paid off and the debt was paid in full without the need to resort to the sale of the assets.
Trespasser Removals for London Boroughs
Over a two-year period from 2017-2018 Jon either directly managed or was involved with in excess of 200+ trespasser removals for at least a dozen of the established London Boroughs, using various instruments including but not limited to; Common Law, Writs of Possession, Writs of Restitution, Writs of Assistance (following the implementation of a Borough wide injunction), assisting the Police with Section 61 removals and enforcing Section 77/78 Magistrates Orders. Jon has also managed a number of trespasser evictions for private landlords throughout England and Wales.
“Having spent six years in the industry developing my knowledge and skill set in all areas of Enforcement, I am looking forward to applying myself further to the Andrew Wilson & Co team and to really pushing on with the growth and development of the ever-expanding Property Services division of the company,” says Jon Tatam, Property Services Manager of Andrew Wilson & Co.
Sarah Roscoe, Managing Director of Andrew Wilson & Co, says: “Jon has quickly proved himself to be an asset to our Property Services Division. This was formed almost three years ago to accommodate the growing demand to recover rent and regain control of property and land in major cities and towns. In particular we are receiving an increasing number of instructions for the removal of squatters in London and the South. Jon is very experienced in these and indeed all areas of enforcement, so we are thrilled to have him on board.”
The business has just reported its best year in terms of the number of new instructions received to repossess property and continues to grow from strength to strength.
