Writ Fees to Increase

It was confirmed in today’s Spring Statement that the Ministry of Justice will increase selected court and tribunal fees from 8 April 2025.

This means that the fee for obtaining a Writ of Control, Possession or Delivery in the High Court will rise from £78 to £80.

These fee increases have been put in place to account for changes to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), with income generated used to support the efficient running of His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS).

New Submission Guidelines for Writs of Control

HMCTS has advised that from 31 March 2025, all Writ of Control applications should be submitted to the Civil National Business Centre (CNBC).
